Although I believe that a society of this kind is unreal and completely impossible, if everyone treated others with absolute love and kindness first then there would be no need for political control because there would be social order. Confucious is right in saying that the society he was in needed social structure and and customs, but for a society where all there you need is love then this isnt the case.
The beatles make a good point with this song because if there is no corruptive forces on people and all they did was to be kind to others and to love them then society would be peaceful. there would be no need for any control or custom because there would be no uprisings or violent acts against anything. The only problem about this is, I dont believe that the human race could ever just love everyone. Our race is too selfish and greedy, therefore in an ideal world this society may exist but in ours, not a chance!

You say that love would bring social order, but would it really? I agree with you that everyone loving everyone is impossible, but even in an ideal society where this were possible it probably wouldn’t create social order because love is not a perfect emotion and can cause jealousy and betrayal.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with your thinking that if it were possible for humans to love everyone, than it would create a perfect society. I don't believe that love would create the proper balance that is needed for social order. I feel that if this society existed there would be clashes in ideas and it would create mass havoc. There needs to be the opportunity for different opinions to shine in a society in order for it to work well.
ReplyDeleteI agree completely with you. I think that if it were humanly possible to love and care about everyone, life would be great, but that is impossible. I think it is important to consider the truth about the human race when answering this question and that is that humans can not love everyone.
ReplyDeleteJake, You seem to say love as a governing principle would be great (even though it isn’t possible). People would not have to worry about being shot on the street, and such, if they could count on everyone being loving. Why do you think people being kind to you will result in happiness and social order? How would school work? Would speed limits be enforced? Think this through.
